THEY'RE GETTING SERIOUS

Updated: Mar 23

As of January 2024, the fines for landlords in breach of Right to Rent Rules have drastically increased.

Before this update, a first offence carried a fine of up to £1,000 per occupier and a second of up to £3,000 per occupier, however penalties could now be up to £10,000 and for a repeat offence as much as £20,000 AND a possible prison sentence in severe cases.

So it's probably time that landlords check that they've ticked all the right boxes to ensure they're compliant with the Immigration Act and all Right to Rent procedures.
